Benefiting from Magnesium

My juicing journey has taught me just how valuable Magnesium is in my life and sustaining good health in bones, muscles and heart. Juicing with the added benefit of a daily handful of spinach gives a fair amount of magnesium and minerals but I still take a slow magnesium at night for higher rate of absorption whilst sleeping. After posing the question of Magnesium intake to clients and friends, most have responded blankly not realizing just how much we need it to sustain a healthy life. The bigger part of the conversation then speaks of lack of vegetables because of the bland taste.  Well, if the vegetables taste so bland and are hard to chew, become a juicer and drink the pulp and fibre of the blend too as herein is the goodness.
Each time I come across a health blip either in my lifestyle or that of a client, it is best to share the news so that others can benefit by research.  The same as putting together a diary of your day, include a few lines of healthy habits in your day. I recently visited my dentist and was given the happy news of the amazing regeneration of my gums and teeth structure from a couple of years ago.  It is true that one can reverse any ill health by maintaining a healthy diet and habits which should be shared for the benefit of others. As with all things, moderation is the key.
More importantly, a few moments early morning in a little quiet meditation does wonders to calm a racing mind and heart encouraging one towards a steady peaceful day. Aum

Hear your Body and Heal...

This can mean giving up on trying to keep up the facade of enjoying the current office job and taking 'baby steps' towards serving people in your passion, which for me is 'healing'. Reflexology has always been my tool and giving me valuable lessons in the extent of healing needed. The world today is crying for emotional healing as all are going through incredible shifts in energy. That is why we cannot stress enough how important it is to eat healthily and take advantage of the natural minerals and vitamins in fruit and vegetables. As a round up on past articles I have written in giving self help Reflexology, that quick daily foot roll on a tennis ball does wonders in stimulating the reflexes within the body especially mid foot for the digestive system. Heavy starches and meats slow the digestive system down and one can only imagine how over worked our systems become after all we eat...

To coconut or not

The positive benefits of coconut oil are tremendous. Recently watched a conversation wherein Scientific facts were touted about the fatty content. We all know to first check with our health practitioner first before taking any products and to take everything in moderation! Coconut Research Center

Lamb, Chicken, Beef, Pork

Eating a lot of meat clogs the digestive process that is why a day of fruit and vegetables atleast once a week is good practice. As mentioned by many of the sages of old, give the tummy a rest often as it works so hard in digesting the many cravings each day.
A craving is a habit and working on changing habits can become easier by following the colour guide of fruit and vegetables. What colours would you put on your plate at each meal, additives not included.
Enjoy

Juicing continued

After all the negative news on meat I see this as a sign to forego meat and enjoy the natural goodness of fruit, vegetables and nuts. I so enjoy Yogananda's spiritual view of healthy eating which stands strong during these times of unsurety in certain foods which is surely a sign to let it go for a while. Although there are many books on the subject, creating your own mixes according to one's own taste is satisfying. Feel free to share recipes and health stories on this blog.

Juicing to Good Health

Having recently returned to this way of healthy diet, the benefits are amazing. This does not mean cutting out proteins but rather juicing the veggies before a light meal of proteins/carbohydrates.

Eating the good Vibrational Food

Up to about a year ago, I experienced Oesophagus problems caused from constant reflux over the years. Upon reflection I realised I had a problem with the food I was eating and I needed to practice what I have been preaching with friends and clients and so I began reading age old nutritional facts from great healers of many years ago and which has brought me to the realization I was eating food of negative vibrations. The only book that has brought me closer to better eating habits is "How to Achieve Glowing Health and Vitality' by a wonderful Guru Paramhansa Yogananda. I can honestly say no matter how sweet and alluring adverts are, the basic truth is to eat fresh foods, lovingly grown and lovingly prepared before each meal. I had to withdraw from certain meats and feel so much better for it. I so enjoy the timetable given in this book which advises a cereal before 9 is fine or a heavier breakfast with protein between 9 and 12 noon. The rest of the day is liquids and fruits and dinner at 7 in the evening. Following dinner, no liquids for atleast three hours. This is where I have learnt to honour my stomach and let it process the food I have eaten, without intereference because looking back I have abused my digestive system to the point of the constant reflux. Staying on medication has not been the answer for me and so giving all respect to my stomach and digestive system as it works hard to nourish me, but as an alternative natural remedy I have found Aloe Comfort surprisingly calming during those times I test my taste buds.

Mind over Matter in Meditation

Since my journey in meditation it is very true that one becomes calmer and the biggest lesson to get to this state is literally calming the mind of the chatter. What a challenge but so beneficial and as we are taught, a little a day goes a long way. I highly recommend a book 'How God Changes your Brain', which is a universal account of how meditation does change the brain and embracing all religions. If the world could just read this and practice meditation, we would all get along so much better. A truly noble state is to 'rise above' all situations.

MEDITATION AND SELF MASTERY

Meditation is an individual experience. I cannot do without it. I first started reading 'Autobiography of a Yogi' a couple of years ago, and return to it over and over again as there are just so many healing messages and good sound advice on simple living.

Along this journey I studied a little in Self Realisation and Basic Hypnotherapy.

Hypnotherapy is the power of suggestion. Meditation is the power of self realisation, self awareness, inner peace and spirituality.

Energy Healing

Over the years I have been studying and using various healing modalities. I am currently completing my Reiki Mastership and came across an article by Dr. Richard Gerber M.D. and his discussions on energy healing. I would recommend any healer have a look at his website 'World Research Foundation'.

ALLERGIES

Recently I was asked to help a client with hay fever which is as a result of allergies. After chatting about eating habits, and even diet from a young age I was surprised at what unfolded.

MP900422201[1] As a child this person was given mainly fruit juice and water because he had reactions to milk and throughout his life did not eat any form of vegetables except perhaps butternut. His hay fever is prevalent first thing in the morning and his face comes up in little red patches. The areas on the face tell their own story as each part reflects reflexes of bodily organs. Seems his body was overloaded with sugar and was literally eating protein and sugar as a habit more than for his own good.

I gave a gruelling reflexology session and especially working all the toes and front pads of the feet as these speak for the sinuses. For those who cannot reach their feet, giving your fingers and hands a good massage will stimulate the sinuses and start a detox.
Heard the saying "When does a good thing become too much"...well for me rice became too much over the years and I ended up having a violent reaction to eating it. I even tried healthy brown rice with the same reaction. I now substitute my diet with other healthy options.

A HEALTHY YEAR!

Draw up a list of the food you want to eat and next to those items a
list of the more healthy option of food. Put it on your fridge and
each time you go to your fridge for a craving, try and chose the more
healthy option. It is surprising how easy habits change and better to
change to a more healthy habit. Generally what the eye sees the
stomach wants..so why not choose the healthy option including when
packing a lunch for the kids or for work. Going without unhealthy
sugar just for a week brings a healthy glow, less indigestion and
discomfort.

Works for me....

Good Health = Good Choices=Miracles of Gratitude

A table full of yummy sweets and puddings and the possibility of
heartburn and acid reflux! An age old remedy which I use regularly is
dessicated coconut. A teaspoon in the morning helps calm the stomach
and encourage a good digestion.
A spoonful of honey for over consumption of alcohol provided one is
not diabetic.
To cleanse your energy at the end of the day or evening, a teaspoon of
Himalayan salt in the bath along with a few drops of lavendar and a
certain amount of reflection.

Then of course before New Year's Eve, take three pieces of tissue
paper and write your miracles for 2010. As you flush them away, give
thanks for what you have already.

If you are spending Christmas and New Year alone, try atleast one
visit to your nearest community centre or hospital to those who are
less fortunate.

A Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year

How a Blind Person Studies and Practises Complementary Therapies

I am a 28 year old, married female who is totally blind and has a hearing impairment and wears hearing aids so that I can hear clearly.  Currently I am studying Healing Modalities in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Reasons for studying complementary modalities:

I like to work with my hands and with people on a one to one basis.

I would've liked to study a medical degree but could not due to my visual disability, but I can make a difference in people's lives by giving them complementary treatments.

I think this a good career for a blind person and I would like to teach my knowledge to other blind people

It is your choice!

Ask a Health Practitioner first on what is best for you. A more relaxing and calm way to detox is to book an appointment with a Therapist in Reflexology or Therapeutic Massage and bear in mind many of the natural therapies being practised today have been around for many many years. During each therapy the body naturally detoxes whilst you rest, the only important requirement is drink lots of water, before and after. As in previous articles, look at ways of preparing healthy salads.

Recently a colleague came to me asking about certain detox plans she had found online of which she was interested in following with the liver detox. Although excellent detox plans and by a very reputable Health Practitioner I did suggest she contact this Health Practitioner first and discuss her current diet and ailments beforehand. She admitted that she had tried it a couple of weeks previously and nothing had happened that she felt had helped her.

Google updated health articles and get up to date with all the current studies on the value of each trend. A Diet is not less food but quality of food.

These past few weeks I have seen people go from one extreme of eating to another with serious health consequences, for example, eating fruit and vegetables for a few days because they feel the need to cleanse then suddenly indulging in heavy protein, dripping with oil and loaded with salt because of ‘that craving’. Plays havoc with the blood pressure, cholesterol and energy levels.

Change to a positive frame of mind to start your own Healing Process from within…Read and share the health stories of others who have gone down that same road as you are embarking on…

Swop a hamburger for a tasty salad of health

I know it is hard to look at a delicious looking hamburger and then look at a bowl of vegetable salad, but have you really compared the goodness between each of them or has it become far too easy to just grab a quick bite without even thinking of your health.

j0430944

Apart from the financial lessons of the falling economies around the world, there are health lessons too and very importantly, when last did you honestly munch on a lovely orange fresh carrot! When last did you got to the vegetable and fruit market and take your time in picking out a healthy range of fruit and vegetables for you and your family. Has it become easier to hand out a cool drink to the children or have you honestly tried to hand each of them freshly made carrot and orange juice, or apple and pear juice. If you add up the costs of a juicemaker and compare to the number of bottles of fruit juice or cool drink you buy in a month, surely the juicemaker along with the fruit and vegetables you buy at the market, win hands down…

One of my young colleagues asked me the other day, how to make a salad for a get together she was having with friends, each bringing their own dish of goodies. We put this salad together in conversation only :

Lettuce (Fibre)

Green apple: Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Folate, Vitamin E

Avocado: Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin B1 (thiamine)
Vitamin B2 (riboflavin), Niacin, Folate
Pantothenic Acid, Vitamin B6

Red, orange, green peppers: Carotenes, Niacin, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, fibre

Grated carrot: Beta Carotene

Pecan nuts: cholesterol lowering, natural antioxidants, heart healthy

(This information provided in a Google search..)

Then of course a Mayonnaise of choice mixed with milk…

Her salad turned out to be the hit of her party and so she has started to learn about what healthy foods to put together now that she lives in her own little apartment. Colour is important as it speaks volumes on the hidden goodness.

This is just one combination of goodness and health and it really is quite therapeutic to spend a little time in your kitchen putting it together, even inviting your children to participate. Remember the days of shelling the peas..

Listen to your Intuition

j0402316[1]

This is a special sense we all have within and our internal warning bell that tells us if all is not well, whether in our health or from around us. But to ensure we are tuned in it is necessary to follow the guidance of a healing therapist to aid in bringing the mind and body back into balance. A small fall may seem nothing, but the actual shock to the mind and body can be everlasting, that is why it is important to seek out a relaxing and healing therapeutic healing modality at least once a month. This also applies to children and highly recommended that parents or atleast one parent learn the basics of atleast one healing modality whether reflexology, holistic massage or complimentary health care which bring the far reaching healing benefits to every family especially during times of trauma and stress.

A healthy intuition leads to a healthy mind and making wise decisions for your highest good. Learn how to meditate and a style which fits in with your life whether practiced inside or outside in nature. Practice a quiet mind as this brings your manifestations into focus and in harmony with your intuition and hearts desires. Remember every decision you make must first sit comfortably within your heart, then you will truly know inner peace.

Bring a Crystal into your Home

Crystals are such beautiful stones with amazing energies and if anyone has read my article of healing for my daughter, during her recovery from the snake bite, one will get an idea of the amazing healing properties within these beautiful stones.

I only give crystals as gifts as they are both healing and so beautiful to handle and look at. The wonder of these stones having been a part of our world for so long and yet so little is known of them. All the stories and amazing discoveries at Atlantis, the crystal skulls, even though some may be a little overwhelming to read, there is however an underlying truth of the healing properties in crystals. Every home should have a rose quartz as this beautiful pink crystal relates to healing in the home. The colour pink can be related to the energy centre at the middle of the chest above the Thymus Gland and the Immune System of the body. Pink is a very healing colour and when we notice those who wear pink this can always relate to the person requiring healing and strengthening.

Each crystal can relate to an energy centre within the body:

When we are faced with unwanted fears, don't run from them, rather face them, forgive them and yourself and let laughter be your best daily medicine walking forward towards your new beginning fearlessly.

In Holistic Terms, Stress causes Dis-Ease within the Body

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/06/090617123700.htm

Our ability to withstand stress-related, inflammatory diseases may be associated, not just with our race and sex, but with our personality as well, according to a study published in the July issue of the journal Brain, Behaviour and Immunity. Especially in aging women, low levels of the personality trait extraversion may signal that blood levels of a key inflammatory molecule have crossed over a threshold linked to a doubling of risk of death within five years.(article in today's Sciencedaily at link....

In Holistic terms we can relate this to Dis-ease in the body from Stress and working with the 'root cause' of the stress in bringing the body and mind back into balance. Thoughts, whether harmonious or stressful create the emotions in the body and etching lines on the face which in turn brings us to Chinese Face Reading which has been used for many years in helping assess bodily dis-ease
j0430489 j0430486

Look up the indicators of Chinese Face Reading and learn about the areas within your body that are taking much of your stress. For instance, in Chinese Face Reading the area immediately beneath your eyes is linked to your kidneys.  If I see this area as puffy or swollen, I will immediately notice that a person is not drinking enough water!!!!!
Interesting?!!!
